The Anniversary Celebration Continues with the Founder’s Day Ball

In honor of the 140th Anniversary of Stevens, the Student Government Association (SGA) sponsored the first annual Founder’s Day Ball. Held last week in the Bissinger Room in the Howe Center, the Ball was an event for the community to celebrate Stevens, its history, its students and of course, its legacy of innovation. With Bandwidth, the student Jazz-Rock band, playing many hits and a mix of DJ’ing done by DJ Amlan and WCPR, the campus radio station, more than 150 students danced the night away.

In addition to students, several administrators and Board of Trustees members were in attendance. After appetizers and hors d’oeuvres, a formal meal and dessert followed, complete with a decadent chocolate fountain. The night culminated with raffle prizes and the announcement of the new SGA President and Vice-President, Stephanie Spelman and Kendra Appleheimer. Students were able to have formal pictures taken throughout the night to commemorate the Ball and all guests received a special glass, designed specifically to celebrate 140 Years of Innovation here at Stevens.

“The Founders Day Ball is the exactly the type of event that a lot of students were looking for—a reason to dress-up, party, and have a good time as students,” said current SGA President Abel Alvarez. “I hope this becomes a new tradition.”
